Yes, I get a lot of emails and calls regarding both Fisher and Marantz. I see them “new” on the internet or in Macy’s electronics section says the caller. Many companies, past American companies are in Name only. Companies such as Fisher, Marantz, etc. have been sold numerous times. The only connection to their original origins is their name brand. Fisher has been made all over Asia from Malaysia to China to Japan. The fisher of the past 50 or so years has nothing in common with their original NY manufacturing. Basically it’s a name that stands for mostly Very low end products. Totally unrecognizable from their predecessors.  Marantz on the other hand still makes high end equipment but again has little in common with what Saul Marantz originally designed in the USA. There are still a few American made brands which one could call esoteric. Names such as McIntosh, Theta, Vandersteen to name a few are made in the US. For most regular folk Made in the USA means unaffordable when it comes to audio equipment. But…there are some excellent choices of equipment which are made over seas. Harman Kardon, a past American company which I believe is now built somewhere in China makes super quality equipment. Their Logic 7 system is used in some of the most expensive automobiles on earth. Denon and Yamaha which are top brands in Japan are also an excellent choice. Check out some of the choices and options from Japan, Korea, and China. You might be pleasantly surprised, and no it’s not all junk. Think about Sony TV’s…probably the best televisions every made.
