What is the difference between Cashforstereos.com (me) in NY/NJ  and my competitors? I buy equipment Both Working and Non-Working, or even Sometimes Working, they don’t.  Most of if not all of my competitors purchase only “Working” equipment as in 100% working. That means if you have static in a control, a noisy transistor, leaky capacitor or weak tube they don’t want it.  Why is that?  They are basically flippers who don’t want to put any work into making money. They buy and sell as acquired. Repairs, cleaning, writing a description explaining what is wrong, taking pictures of the flaws or imperfections all take time and bring in less money. There are few who fix this stuff anymore, and the ones that repair or restore equipment charge extremely high prices for their services. Also, all of the old time tube caddy carrying guys are gone. There are still a few old timers, or new timers who can repair this equipment but qualified vintage electronics servicemen are far and few in between. I can work on electronics, as a backyard, garage mechanic, I do pretty well. I no longer work on the tough dogs since it takes time, patience, great eye sight, money, etc. Most of the old equipment will cost you more to restore then it’s worth. That’s a fact of life in the 2000’s. It’s a throw away world now, especially when it comes to electronics. I mean….who’s dopey enough to spend $80.00 on something you can buy brand new for $100.00? There are a few, but no one can make a living off a few people who failed 4th grade math. Basically you buy what you can afford to toss out when it breaks. Like it or not, that’s the new dealeo. Some people can afford to discard a Cadillac in a few years and some a Chevy. It’s all the same thing. Same thing with TV’s, electronics, etc.  Common sense and logic tells us equipment that is 30-60 years old needs some kind of service. I have people argue how great their Fisher 500 works, just like the day it was purchased. Yes it works, how well it works, and how long it will work is highly questionable. It’s not a question of if it’s going fail, the question is when is it going to melt down? Some simply can’t grasp this fact of life, all they know is that it works. And nothing you say can make them understand that their 40 year old McIntosh amplifier will need service so it lasts another 10+ years(maybe.) Again, all they know is “it works.” Have you had anyone come to do work in your home lately? It costs a fortune and I am usually unhappy with the job for one of many reasons. And, I am easy to deal with, not picky or unreasonable, and far from a perfectionist. 99.9999% of the contractors over charge, do under par work, blame anything and everything for a poor job, need more money as the job progresses. Disappear to juggle five jobs at one time, need more money up front for what ever reason, find other problems that impede the job they were hired for, materials went up in price, Bruno their main worker just quit and went back to his home land in Antarctica, the list can fill this page…So what’s the difference between ME and the OTHER Guys? I buy your audio equipment WORKING OR NOT. I Don’t even plug your equipment in to test it. The only thing I go by is cosmetics. Your equipment has to be in very good cosmetic  condition. NO broken off knobs or switches, no water damage, no forest fire smell from within, no bangs or smashes, etc. Normal wear is ok and is expected. I just don’t buy things with objectionable or offensive flaws. But, as previously stated as long as your equipment looks good and is complete I will buy it if it’s something I can use…WORKING OR NOT. Give me a call at 718 698-2428. A real person picks up, or a pretty girl comes on the answering machine. If you leave a message I will return your call within 24 hours whether I am interested or not in your equipment. It treat others like I want to be treated. That’s right, I will call you back even if you have nothing I am interested in and will even try to help you sell it else where.  It’s that simple.
