Ten, fifteen years ago it was so easy. You would post your vintage equipment on ebay or Craigslist and within a matter of an hour your equipment would have bids or be sold. NOT ANYMORE. It amazes me how many calls and emails I get from people who still use ebay as a bargaining chip to try and sell their equipment. I am not stupid, and neither are the other buyers of vintage electronics. We know how much to pay(most of the time) based on actually items sold, not some insane asking price. I sometimes see sellers on ebay relist the same item dozens of times without lowing their prices. Don’t these geniuses realize every time they list the same item for the same exorbitant price it cost them money to relist. They are losing more money then if they posted a reasonable asking price the first time. That’s right, we all know to look on ebay at the “SOLD” prices not the asking prices. Then we go to the median/middle of the selling price of that piece. It’s common to have someone call and try and sell for retail. What about ebay fee’s? What about packing? How about the effort to list with a description and photos? Answering questions from brain dead individuals, insane 180 day paypal money back guarantee, and ebays 30 day warrantee? How about all the returns of equipment with parts swiped out or replaced with defective components. Or damaged in shipping claims? Sure you get your money back but at what cost in time, effort and aggravation? Then you have eBay’s anti-seller policies that are brutal where the customer is always right. Move on to Craigslist…now that place has really gone through a metamorphoses. Used to be the best, now it’s the Worst. 3/4+ of the people don’t show up to buy your gear after you have made the deal by phone or email. All kinds of vermin and troglodytes are oozing all over the site so you never know what is going to show up at you doorstep to supposedly by your equipment. Plus, all the people like myself are in the “know.” Craigslist is a virtual yard sale, if you try and ask ebay or retail prices you will be sitting with your equipment until the cows come home.                Reading above one would take it that I am angry…not even close. I’m retired and do this for fun as a collector, and also to make some pocket change. As previously stated it’s become extremely hard to sell equipment so many times I break down non-working units to sell parts or keep for spares. It doesn’t pay to spend hours fixing a component for $100.00. And yes, they all need service whether they are working or not. After fees, and the above mentioned stress you lose money even selling at a 100 bucks.                                                                                                                                So where to sell your equipment?  Give cashforstereos.com of NY and NJ a chance. You won’t get ebay prices but I am fair and pay immediate cash. I am not into drama or games, I come to you with cash in hand. I don’t test or examine your equipment with a magnifying glass. As long as it’s in good cosmetic condition and complete we are good to go. Call 718 698-2428 to sell your old receivers, amplifiers, preamplifiers, turntables, ham radio equipment, guitar amps, etc. It’s a phone call, you have nothing to lose….Thank you.
