Yeah, you sorta can but…
- You have to pay cash
- You have no guarantee
- Go at your own risk, loads of vermin and no-good-nics
- Many who sell on CL are eBay kick offs or those who can’t make the grade.
- Prices have become very ebayish
- For most it’s out of their comfort zone
- Multiple other reasons
At one time Craigslist was a valuable alternative to ebay and the other online venues. Personally I feel it’s now a waste of energy and time. Do you really want to pay ebay price to some guy who meets you in a white van with a fake name? Seriously, there are some real vermin selling on Craigs now. People you simply don’t want to deal with in any regard. As far as placing ads it’s free for the most part. You can put up ads to buy or sell. Craigslist is supposedly community moderated where the users have control whether your ad survives or it is flagged off. At one time that was the way it was. The Craigslist users would “flag” off the spam or multiple, repetitive ads. That didn’t last long because competitors of all types would knock off each others ads. Flagging battles everyday. Now Craigslist basically decides who will stay and who will go by computer algorithm. You got it…the place is a mess, a big mess. Take a look at the electronics section in your area. For the most part it’s a bunch of crap for sale and the few good pieces have ebay inspired pricing. Wanted section? Yeah sure, hahahhahaha. Ad Posting services have taken over and post dozens of wanted ads for thrift/pawn/buying stores and other types of resellers. You put up a wanted ad and you will be flagged off…why is that, lol. Is it CL bouncing off your wanted ad or one of your competitors you didn’t even know you had? Is it real or is it Memorex? Lol. Bottom line, most of the serious people on CL are professional sellers, or professional resellers buying whatever for a fast flip. How does that help you and I? Right…it doesn’t. My advice, don’t waste your time.
