I get many phone calls and emails from people stating they would like to sell stereo equipment. Some really do…some really don’t. Strange, why would an individual go through the trouble of calling or writing an email to cashforstereos.com unless they wanted to turn old audio equipment into cash. Recently I gave it some thought and came up with a few possible reasons. 1) They want a price quote to make them feel good? 2) They are looking for a sucker to pay near ebay prices since they can’t or don’t want to do the work involved in selling on line? 3) Some feel like they have “gold” and feel it gives them power? 4) They sincerely want to sell but the emotional factor kicks in and they can’t sell the Fisher that belonged to uncle Boris? 5) The look on the internet at asking prices and think those are the actual selling prices and think they will be come rich selling a few components? There are many other reasons that passed through my cerebrum why a person would call or email like they are fishing. The real seller wants rid of the old equipment, reasons why: It’s large and old and they will never use it again. Like virtually everything else that is a half century old it needs repair and there is no one competent to do it for a reasonable price. It belonged to a relative and they have no use for it. It takes up room and is starting to oxidize. They are selling a house and need it out quickly. They realize selling on line that it takes a lot of energy, work, stress, fees, warrantees, writing descriptions, taking pictures, dealing with nut cases, anal buyers, shipping, returns, double box packing, etc. etc. There are many other reasons for selling but the above mentioned are real sellers. They are not trying to make money…they want rid of the stuff and realize to make money they will have to put time, effort, work, and risk into the equation and sell on line. At this time, I receive half and half = 1/2 real and 1/2 fakers. I tell the fakers to call my competitors, maybe they will pay more or deal with cerebral dysfunction. As for me, I am real. I pay cash, I come to you and travel a reasonable distance, I buy working or not as long as cosmetics are good, I am easy to deal with…courteous and prompt.
