I’ve been getting dozens of calls and emails lately. ” How much can I get for $#%343? ” “Do you fix $2@#$@, and how much does it cost? I am really starting to understand why my competitors don’t take or answer phone calls anymore. Most of the phone calls and emails are just fishermen/women. They never planned on selling the equipment in the first placeĀ So called “sellers” call up my competitors and either they don’t want to follow through with their protocol, look their items up on ebay, or just want to find out how much their equipment is worth locally. Most don’t follow through because they see the ridiculous asking prices on ebay. “Hey that’s how much my Sansuzzi is worth”. Or, maybe they call a competitor and don’t like the price offered for their Kenmore receiver. Possibly, at one time they paid a lot of money for their Bosey. So now I get their call, “how much will you give me for this or that? Amazingly they forget all the work involved in being a real seller and expect retail internet prices for their equipment. They all forget that it needs service because many functions of their equipment need repair/restoration. “I plugged it in and it lights up.” See it works.
I know the deal, the junk sits in their attic or garage / basement until they die. Most mortals can’t deal with ebay anymore, especially those who are selling used electronics or other items that have to work and do more then just look pretty. They are not going to write a accurate description or take loads of pics, or do the packing/shipping/etc. It’s a lot of work plus ebay takes out fees and now you have a indelible record of selling without paying taxes. That will come back to haunt many a seller in the near future. It’s just not the right time to drop the hammer.
So what happens? As previously stated the electronic junk sits in their house until they pass. Or maybe it’s sold in a yard sale, etc. Most of the time it ends up in the garbage or a recycling depot. I hear ” I’m gonna put it up on ebay” at least 4 out of ten communications. Yeah sure, you really sound like your going to do all the work involved plus offer a 6 month paypal money back guarantee, lol.
So basically your only choices in selling your equipment is on ebay or to me, or an individual like myself. Or you can do the estate / yard sale scene where people come with fifty cents in their pocket and want your stuff for $0.25. it’s not gold, it doesn’t shine like gold, it doesn’t appeal to the masses as does gold, and it oxidizes unlike gold. Get rid of your electronics while you still can. When my generation dies off there will be no one to buy it. As it stands now there is virtually no one to fix or restore it for a fair price. Take the money and run…
