I don’t hear much about home theater these days. Buzz words are giant flat screens, sound bars, Bose, etc. What’s going on you ask, no more home theater? Yeah it’s still out there but most people don’t want any part of it these days. Why? Because it’s a total pain in the $%##@. You need a capable receiver, multiple speakers, wires running all over the place, a tv worthy or deserving of a super sound system, and changing formats and modes, etc. I think they are up to 7.2? Seven speakers and two subwoofers, just what we need to watch reality TV and news programs. In all fairness there is Netflix and a host of other good programming one could make use of a good sound system. The whole home theater system got out of hand, speakers, receivers, tuning your system to your room size and acoustics. Plus…to set up a good quality home theater system is Big Bucks. People have gone back to a simple system, a sound bar mounted under the television. Sony even made a flat screen with a woofer/midrange/tweeter on each side of the TV. An optional wireless subwoofer is available for this TV with a built in quality sound system. I believe Sony discontinued this TV, it came in 3 sizes with 65″ being the largest. The video and sound is phenomenal on this unit and you don’t need speakers dangling all over the place. Ok, the reason home theater is fading or has faded is: Price, room consideration, technology changing every other day, and most of all it’s a pain in the $%#$%#@. Also, worth mentioning is that your state of the art surround sound system is worth next to nothing after purchase. You can’t give it away…
