Here we go again…new world. Not too long ago I used to pick up the Staten Island Advance which is the local newspaper. There was a whole page dedicated to yard/estate/garage sales. Today Saturday I picked up a newspaper just to view this weekends sales and there are five. That’s right just 5. Just a few years ago there would of been 50-100’s of yard sale listings. I used to spend the whole day driving from sale to sale. Not only did I find treasures at a good deal but it was fun and exciting. All gone, no more, water under the bridge. I don’t have a logical reason for this happening but I have a few theories. Ebay has come and gone so there is no where really to sell vintage/antique items anymore for a profit? Maybe, most of the old timers who sold and even collected vintage things have dwindled? Could it be people don’t want to be bothered having yard sales any more or that they are so in debt the few bucks they make won’t make a difference? Did all the vintage things dry up, and there is nothing out there anymore? Maybe a combination of all, plus it’s expensive to put a yard sale ad in the newspaper? I don’t know, but what I do know is that there are few local sales anymore. Driving around you see very few ads posted to telephone poles like their used to be.

Why this post on a “wanted to buy stereo site?” Because I found my best equipment and best deals at yard sales in the past. It fits sorta….
