Like many things that have been popular, enjoyable, progressive, etc. in the past one hundred twenty years Music has kinda sorta faded away. Sure there are loads of female vocalists singing through new tech gadgetry to make their voices sound good, and plenty of rap/hiphop stuff, heavy metal noise with no rhythm or consistency. Much of the rock music produced by modern day obscure bands sounds like a lot of disjointed noise. I can’t even listen to it, honestly it makes me feel like crap. What about Jazz, blues, classical, rock, rock and roll, or even disco? It’s gone for the most part, sure there are some old time bands holding on, and some new groups here and there but the demand for much of the music from the last century is gone. Country music still has a better then decent following and is probably one of last music forms that still has mass market popularity. Unfortunately, it’s not one of my favorite types of music. The only choice is to go back in time when there were literally hundreds of artists and songs in different music forms at any given time. We live in strange times, technology moves forward at the expense of everything else. Even Television, we have reality TV shows that are not real through we watch on techno 4K flat screen TV’s. Turning on the TV 95% of the programming and commercials are geared towards the 50 and over crowd. Young and middle aged folks are on the internet or cell phone in a cyber-fog. I personally get this feeling that a lot of what’s going on now is “make believe.” You don’t have to go to Key West Florida now because you can view it on your computer. Computer video games allow everyone to be an athlete, or superstar/hero, etc. It’s the evolution of where everyone gets a trophy. So where does music fit into all of this? Who knows? I do know that much of the music played on the radio is gone in a week or two, never to heard again. Do these vocal or rap songs even have names or are they attached to albums? Wait there are no more record albums. If you can’t sing a note, or can’t play an instrument, why is it called music? I guess it’s like the paint can scenario. You take cans of paint and splash them on the wall, it’s called art. You see anyone can do this with the same results give or take. Everyone’s a star, an artist, seems to be the same mind set in music these days. Everyone is a musician if we call everything music. Me personally, I listen to some new electronic music on channel 53 Sirius radio occasionally but I mostly tune into anything 60’s/70’s/and 80’s. Doesn’t matter the genre really. As long as it’s good/pleasant/enjoyable to listen to. What will the future music be like? Seems like music is going backwards or sideways maybe?
